A while back,a guy from Agonic Enterprises from Texas got a hold of me and asked me if I’d like to try out a new product from him called the Stedi-Stock. I looked at it and was quick to say yes. The Stedi-Stock is a plastic,lightweight stock to mount your spotting scope or video camera to. You can then hold the scope or camera very steady,with no shaking so common with just holding something in your hands.

Does it work?
Yes,very well. I used it with a spotting scope and found it to work almost as well as the tripod,yet was much more mobile. I also liked that it is light and compact,making it extremely mobile. You have several mounting options for how you want the device to be held on the stock.

What’s with the grip?
The grip threw me at first. I didn’t see why it was cone-shaped. ThenI saw the other part of it that can mount on a tripod. What it basically does is give you a quick-release mechanism for mounting the Stedi-Stock on a tripod,or window mount. You can them pull it off and go out into the field. Think about that. You’re out scouting for bucks or bulls or whatever. You spot what you’re after,and all you have to do is pull the Stedi-Stock off of the tripod and go. And you still have a useable scope because of the Stedi-Stock.

I occasionally have to use a video camera. The Stedi-Stock allows me to be totally mobile,yet still get good,quality shots.

If I hadn’t been asked to test one of these,but had read a test or seen one,I would have bought it on my own. It is a quality product and does just what it says it will do. I haven’t seen anything just like it before and the versatility and mobility of it make it a product every hunter,outdoor-enthusiast etc… should own. Best of all,it is made right here in the USA and is available for under $30! I don’t get anything for selling these but am telling you,go buy one. You won’t be sorry!

Stedi-Stock® :

Remove the nut from the handle, slide the threaded portion of the handle through one of the three holes provide depending on eye relief or preference. Gently tighten in a clockwise fashion until desired tension is achieved to the optical device.

Strap

Loop free end of strap through the strap lug , slide free end of strap through buckle as shown and adjust for desired length.

NOTE: Stedi-Stock ® is designed to attach to any optical device with a standard 1/4x20 threaded receptacle. Nut is provided to keep the handle attached to the stock when not attached to an optical device.

Quick Release & Mono-Pod:
The quick release will attach to any mono-pod. Super-Clamp, Tripod
or window mount with a standard 1/4X20 thread. Slide the handle of
the Stedi Stock ® down over the quick release and to revert to shoulder
use immediately, simply slide the Stedi Stock® up and off the quick
and off the quick release and the Rifle Rest slides on and off the same
way.

SUPER CLAMP is MULTI-POSITIONAL

The ball head may be moved to either the side or top threaded connection on the

clamp frame. The optical device can be mounted directly to the Super Clamp ball

head or with the Stedi –Stock and quick release system.

I have noticed that I have yet to find any flaws in the making of this equipment yet at this time. Everything can fit into a back pack for easy carrying. The set up time to put all of it together is less than 1 minute. that is a plus compared to hanging a stand and strapping on a tree arm to mount the camera.

It’s durability is strong and water resistant. If you can hold a gun up to your shoulder then you can hold up the Steadi Stock with a camera mounted to it. This small set up is going to change the way hunter’s film their hunts from now on.

Just mount your camera, aim and shoot! It is that simple and that easy even a child can do it. In fact I would put my name behind it and this is something that I don’t do very often for those of you that know me. The size of everything in the whole package makes time easier for not just the set up but as I have already said once, carrying it as well.

I received the mono-pod the day after I had a difficult hunt in tall flat grassy country due to not having some sorty of 6 foot tall shooting sticks or anything to brace off of. I opened the mono=pod the next day and wow it would have been great the day before, but we took out again today and we just shot a buck using it. The Quick Release will attach to any Mono-Pod, Tripod, or Window mount that has a standard 1/4 x 20 camera thread.

The quick release will allow the user to attach the Stedi Stock to their Mono-Pod, Tripod or window mount, then attach the Camera, Range Finder, Spotting Scope or Video Camera to the Stedi Stock and simply slide the Quick Release into the Handle of the Stedi-Stock. This allows the user to have rigid stability and still be able to pan smoothly without having to loosen any adjustment screws. It also allows the user to immediately revert to shoulder use at a moments notice.

The Rifle rest simply slips over the quick release and works great with a Mono-Pod which not only doubles as a support for your optical device, a shooting Stick, but will serve as a walking stick in rough terrain. I personally attach this to the lanyard on my Mono-pod and then it is always handy when I am afield. It will also function great for those super large Telephoto lenses on the 35mm SLR's.
I also use it in conjunction with the Super Clamp on a bench or in a deer blind to provide a non-marring rest for my Grand Children.

I keep a pair of binoculars in my truck for scouting purposes, but often they don’t provide the magnification I want when I look into the far reaches of a field at a buck or a gobbler. For that, I need a spotting scope. The problem is that a spotting scope is impossible to hold still, and those awkward window-clamp devices take too long to line up properly.

Leave it to a creative service-disabled American veteran, a Texan named Harold Hurst, to come up with an inexpensive device for quick, rock-steady viewing through a spotting scope. It’s the Stedi-Stock® – the optical stabilizer that makes perfect sense.

The Stedi-Stock is a shoulder brace that looks like a small skeletonized rifle stock. It has a forward handle with a 1/4 x 20 camera screw on it to attach not only a spotting scope, but a still camera, video camera, or rangefinder. Rest it on the edge of the window of your truck, on a monopod or bipod, against a tree, or any way you’d steady a rifle. Nothing is quicker or easier to use.

The Stedi-Stock really shines when you’re using a long lens to take photos. I'm sending you a couple of photos that I took of Mt. Rainier without a tripod. Usually use a tripod as I am a shaky diabetic.

With stedi stock I find I can use shutter speeds as low as 1\60th of a second. Usually, 1\500th is my best non-tripod speed. The mountain photos will be sent on g-mail. this is why I'm buying another one, so that I have one at home and one for the road.

Have a very merry Christmas. This photo was taken using my compact canon A-650 mounted on my stedi-stock at 1\4th sec.! I have used this for my Christmas card and folks seem to like it.

I honestly don't think it would have been possible without the stedi-stock as I am very shaky diabetic. You are welcome to use the photo if you like. Your invention makes possible pictures that would be impossible for me, even with image stabilization, unless I use a tripod. As anyone can tell you, a tripod is cumbersome and frequently left behind when you just want to shoot extemporaneously.

I was lucky enough to be able to borrow one of these handy little devices on my elk hunting trip to Utah. It was lightweight and packed easily into my luggage (although you need to leave it on the top so they can examine it since it looks like a rifle stock in the X-ray machine!) lol. It is one slick device!

We used it while just holding the video camera in the truck, freehand and we also used it on our scouting walks, along with the monopod. It was amazing how much difference it made while filming. Especially when you are not acclimated yet and you are huffing and puffing while trying to film!

I want to let you know that I used this while riding the backcountry mountains of SE Oklahoma on horseback, at night. Twice when mounting my horse the NV scope broke off (the stock got stuck in between my legs!). This occurred at the plastic threads on the camera lens, which was the weakest point. I recently had the opportunity to use one of your Stedi-Stocks along with the Quick Release Attachment. I was pleasantly surprised how effective it was during a late spring turkey hunt. We wound up having to stalk birds most the morning. The Stedi-Stock along with an adjustable mono-pod fit the bill nicely. I was able to get steady shots on stand, and easily remove the mono-pod to "Run & Gun" for the birds. At one point I had to belly crawl, following a hunter about 100 yards along the edge of a field capturing the hunt the entire time. This is truly an effective tool for the field videographer and I intend to keep one in my bag all the time.

I grew up hunting and fishing as my family spent many hours at Lake Texoma whenever they could find the time. We fished for catfish, crappie, bass, sandbass, bluegill, goggle eye, kentucky bass, smallmouth and just about anything that would bite.
My father would take me rabbit, squirrel, duck. geese, quail, and we would make a few trips to Kansas to hunt pheasants.
Bout the time I was 14 I took up archery and worked hard to earn the money to buy a new RED WING HUNTER bow. So I took up climbing trees again to pursue white tail and I can tell you I have probably made every mistake known to man on how to mess up a deer opportunity.
I found out about bow-fishing from some friends from school and boy did I find a passion there! Every spring I was out wading the shallows at the lake shooting gar, carp and buffalo with my bow, By the Way, I still shoot that same bow when I am bow fishing to this day after 45 years.

The US Navy Seabees interrupted things a bit but I found time to continue my fishing and hunting passions on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where I was stationed when we were in homeport, and learned a lot about catching saltwater species, like Red fish. speckled trout. flounder, croaker, king mackerel. lemon fish, red snapper and how to cook them so they are pretty dag-gone tasty.

As life went on, I went to pursue Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Black Bear, Doves and Pigeons in Argentina and fishing in Canada for Walleye, Northern Pike, Grayling, Lake Trout. King Salmon, Pink Salmon, Dolly Varden, and Halibut! I have been fortunate to take Elk, Mule Deer, Turkey and White tail with a rifle and bow, and a multitude of species with rifle or shotgun.

I retired from the construction business I owned for 25 yrs and now spen my time with running Stedi Stock, creating new things in my shop , fishing. hunting and teaching my grandkids about the wonderful things God put here on this earth for us to nurture and harvest for our benefit.

It does my heart good to see the young ones take an interest and enjoy the woods and water and the bountiful resources we have while pursuing the opportunities in the great outdoors.

I used my new StediStock for 94 pictures at the Oregon Gardens Thursday last (May 22nd). It is a handy little accessory. I taped a remote shutter trigger on the right side front (I am right handed) where I could reach it handily with my forefinger - this leaves my left hand free to adjust the lens. They are also generally very cumbersome due to their size and shape; which makes them awkward to carry and transport when not in use, especially if you don’t detach them from your video camera. The typical shoulder mount stabilizers are also very expensive with prices starting at approximately $69 to well over a few hundred dollars.

Stedi-Stock has perfected the shoulder mounted stabilizer for the amateur and professional videographer! The lightweight, ingenious gun-stock shape fits right into your shoulder and makes filming your hunt or camera work as steady as aiming a rifle. The simple design makes it easy to steady your video without a counterbalance and will allow your other hand to be free to operate the camera controls. It was very stable panning over scenery. I was able to get centered on the shots quickly when capturing deer and coyote, even when they were moving.

I was extremely impressed with how light it was (6 ounces!), especially since I was use to my other heavy video stabilizer. When not in use, I love being able to detach it and throw it in my gear bag. My other video stabilizer was annoying to carry around when we were done filming; the counterbalance became an overly imbalanced object no one wanted to hold onto.

On target- I picked up a Stedi-stock brace and was able to take the system on our last hunting trip in Texas. We were going to be doing a lot of stocking Javelina so I wanted to make sure to be real steady. After receiving the system and putting it to use I found that not only is the brace affordable and lightweight, it also does really good job of stabilizing my camera. I run a Sony HD cam and I think the brace is recommended for smaller handheld cams but it worked great. I would definitely recommend this brace to beginners and pros.

Off target- After several days of using the camera I found a couple modifications I would make to enhance the brace even more and I don’t think they would jeopardize the low cost at all. One, I would add some sort of padding to the stock of the brace, and second I would add a locking mechanism so I wouldn’t have to keep tightening the camera down. After a while the camera would loosen and rotate.
